Seksi is a sex toy brand for those with disabilities. The goal is to bring awareness to the availability of sex toys as well as encourage those with physical disabilities to feel like these products are for them just as much as they are for able-bodied people.

A NEW LOOK AT ACCESSIBILITY

There is a misconception that physically disabled individuals lack the means to be sexually active or even seek pleasure for themselves, thereby judged regarding their needs and desires. Most sex stores have toys on display that are modeled around popular porn stars or models that set an expectation for healthy and attractive sexual well-being. Seksi challenges this by introducing a range of sex toys for everyone, inspired by physically disabled individuals to empower their sexual identity.

CHALLENGES

A lot of people follow misconceptions that physically disabled people lack that ability and or want to be sexually active or seek pleasure for themselves. They are assumed to have lost their sexual abilities due to their impairments thus victimizing their needs and desires. Increased awareness in the past few years has brought about companies that have developed more inclusive sex toy designs. Sex toys with handsfree and adjustable settings made it easier for those with physical disabilities. However, these toys are not necessarily marketed for those with disabilities, because there is still such a strong presence of ableism in society. People with disabilities may not feel like they have access to these devices.

INSIGHTS

Most of the sex stores in todays market have toys that are modeled from popuar porn stars genitalia. The packaging features images of models half nude to sell the sexy branding of these products. This branding tactic can be intimidating to people who may not be as comfortable with their sexuality or are just beinging their sexual journey. Toda there are many more brands that are challenging this marketing tactic but there are no brands that specifically market to the disabled community. The companies that do sell assistantnce tools for sex are marketed as medical supplies for disabled people.

A NEW LOOK AT PACKAGING
