King Midas (Book Illustrations)

The goal of this project was to create a storyboard and illustration concept for an existing children's story. I chose King Midas and The Golden Touch. Focusing on character design and coloring I came up with this design.

Initial Concept

To start I sketched out a rough idea for what will be on each page. In this stage I had no written story yet but was working from a story I read online. some of the concepts drawn here were taken onto the refinement stage while others were discarded.

Refinement

At this point, I had to narrow down what illustrations were working well and refine those illustrations into cleaner rendering for the color stage.

Here are a few of the images I selected to refine. I focused on the character design of King Midas and his daughter.
